Fall Kid Craft #3: Glitter Gak

glitter gak

This was our first time making gak. I saw it in Oliver’s preschool class last week and looked up how to make it. To my surprise, it only required 3 ingredients (one of those being water). Did I mention it also comes together in seconds (!).

I used gel glitter glue instead of regular white school glue (Elmer’s). Because of this, it had more of a clay consistency than a slime consistency.

When I first thought of making this gak, I immediately knew I wanted to make it look like a monster. As soon as I added some eyeballs, a quirky little monster personality appeared. The perfect little putty pal for the kiddos to play with!  And there you have it…I think I’ll name him George.

Supplies Needed

glitter glue ( a 4 ounce bottle)

1 – 6 ounce bottle of glitter gel glue

1 teaspoon Borax

Mixing bowl

Spoon, for mixing

In mixing bowl, empty entire bottle of glitter glue. Fill bottle up with warm water and give it a good shake. Poor into bowl of glue. In a small cup, dissolve one teaspoon Borax in 1/2 cup of warm water. Pour dissolved Borax water solution into bowl of glue. Stir with spoon, or use your hands. It should instantly start balling up. Knead gak into a ball (will be the consistency of clay) and dispose of remaining liquid in the bowl. Store glitter gak in a plastic zip-lock bag.
