I grew up eating french toast that my grandmother made for us. She made it simple and healthy, and to this day it’s still my favorite way to prepare French toast. With just a few ingredients you can have a nutritious breakfast for you and your children.
I also like to get creative with toppings. Maple syrup is always a go-to, but jelly is great too. Why not some Nutella, or peanut butter or honey. Fresh fruit and yogurt are always welcomed too.
Easy French Toast Fingers Ingredients
4 slices of whole-wheat bread
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Olive oil or coconut oil, for cooking
Lightly beat eggs, milk and cinnamon together. Dredge each slice of bread in egg bath, making sure both sides are coated well. Place bread onto a hot skillet lightly coated with oil. Repeat with each slice of bread until skillet is full of bread. Cook each side for a few minutes on a medium heat, until both sides are golden brown.
Remove from skillet and place onto a cutting board. Slice each piece of bread into 3 or 4 strips. Dip strips into your favorite topping and enjoy.
